What to Expect with Microdermabrasion
The patient’s face will be thoroughly cleaned prior to the procedure. A handpiece with a measure grade of abrasive grit will be rubbed over the surface of the skin while a graded amount of suction is applied. This polishes the skin while at the same time dead skin cells and other debris will be suctioned away and pores cleaned. Microdermabrasion also stimulates the skin’s production of collagen and elastin, which plays a key role in skin firmness. The treatment also makes the skin more susceptible to the effects of masks and serums which can be applied during the same treatment. Treatment can take 30 – 60 minutes to complete.
Microdermabrasion Anticipated Results
There’s no downtime with microdermabrasion, but the skin will look pink and also feel dry and tight for about 1 day after treatment. A medicated moisturizer will be applied after the treatment to alleviate these side effects. There will be visible results right after microdermabrasion, where patients should experience smoother, brighter, and more even-toned skin. For full results, 4-6 treatments are recommended every 2 – 3 weeks.
